Virginia Gay Hospital provided the following about its upcoming open house in Vinton:

VINTON - Virginia Gay Hospital will unveil the hospital’s recent $8.5 million dollar expansion project with a series of events scheduled September 15-18, 2010. A Re-dedication Ceremony is planned for Wednesday, September 15, and a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held Thursday, September 16. Both events are by invitation only, beginning at 6 pm each night with private tours following the ceremonies. Invited VIPs for the events include Iowa Hospital Association President, Kirk Norris.

On Saturday, September 18, Virginia Gay Hospital will host a public open house.  Hospital staff will provide guided tours of the newly expanded Emergency Room, Acute Care, Therapy Services, and Imaging Services departments. Refreshments will be served, too. After the public open house, a Staff Appreciation Party begins at 1 pm and leads up to the BoomTown festivities scheduled for later in the day. 

The expansion project is a continuation of the legacy established by Virginia Gay in 1914.  Funded by generous donations from members of the community, the Virginia Gay Hospital Foundation, and the professional management of the hospital’s operations, the expansion and renovation project takes medicine in Vinton far beyond anything Harvey or Virginia Gay could ever have imagined.
